It has been quite a chaotic week, both nationally and globally. And some are talking (again) about end times, as if the world hasn't experienced chaos like this before. Guess what? None of this is unusual. None of this is unexpected. Our world is currently living separate from Jesus. That is why those of us who follow Him are foreigners here. Trying to fit in. Trying to remain calm in the midst of the chaos we were promised until His return. But, none of this means his return is soon. I mean, it could be, but the recent chaos is not indicative of it. We've seen chaos like this before--many times in the past 2000+ years since Jesus left (and in all of the years before He was on the earth). I honestly think the world has experienced worse chaos than this. Genocide. War. Famines. Disease. The only difference is we never had the technology to record it all.
Television. Cell phones (with digital cameras and internet access). Computers. Facebook. Twitter. Instagram. Youtube. On and on and on. The chaos is right in our faces. All the time. So, it is easy to dwell on it. It is easy to read into it. In the past, whole communities existed without knowing about the chaos around the world. And life went on for them. But, amidst their ignorance to it, the chaos didn't stop. It went on, and many were (and still are) unaware of it. And Jesus didn't come back. So, stop crying "end of the world" and keep praying.
Keep serving the needy. Keeping feeding the hungry. Keep loving your enemies. Chaos is going to happen. Pray. People are going to die. Mourn. But, keep one thing in mind: Amidst all this chaos reigns a Victor. And He is returning. So, stand strong in that knowledge. Persevere. Because good has already overcome evil.
John 16:32-33 ~ “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
